Altea is a town located north of Alicante, between the cities of Benidorm and Calpe. Formerly a small fishing and farming village, it has grown in recent decades and has managed to maintain its character as a fishing village while attracting valuable sun and beach tourism.

It is a town of 24,000 inhabitants classified as one of the most beautiful villages in Spain.

It is located on a hill from which stands out the bell tower of the parish church, dedicated to the Virgin of Consuelo, with its famous blue domes, a typical image of Altea, known for this reason as the Cúpula del Mediterraneo.

The church square offers us views of the entire region. Cobbled streets, stepped streets, dotted with viewpoints, roundabouts and white houses, once surrounded by solid walls, are structured around the church.

Altea is full of artists' workshops and craft shops. In the lower part, there is the shopping street of King Jaime I, the fishing district and the port which carries out a great fishing activity, but also the seafront and six kilometres of coastline formed by pebble beaches, coves and cliffs.

Altea has two notable festivals: the fireworks of Castell de L'Olla, in August, and that of the Moors and Christians, at the end of September.

It has more than 6 km of coastline where cliffs and small coves alternate. Among them, the following beaches stand out:
- La Roda, a pebble beach that is the most popular, as it is located in the town centre.
- La Olla, a beautiful beach of sand and stones that is located in front of the islet of La Olla. The name "olla" is due to the fact that in the coldest time of the year, there is a place on this beach where the water begins to boil.
- Cap Négret, is a gravel beach. The name "Négret" comes from the black color of the volcanic rocks that are found on one of its beaches.
- El Mascarat is a charming gravel cove, next to the "Puerto Deportivo Campomanes".
- Cap Blanch, is a wide white gravel beach with transparent and very blue waters. It is the largest beach in Altea and borders the beach of Albir.

It also has three nudist beaches: Playa de la Solsida, Playa Mascarat Norte and Cala de la Barra Grande, all of them gravel and have been awarded the Q for tourist quality.

The surroundings of Altea also have a great tourist value due to the importance of its landscapes, such as the Mascarat Canyon, the Sierra Gelada Natural Park or the Sierra de Bernia, all incredible natural sites that are worth visiting.

THE CASTELL DE GUADALEST
Located on a rock more than 500 meters above a dam that supplies water to the Marina Baixa region, this old town is classified as a historic site. See the castle of San José, a Muslim fortress from the 11th century, which can be accessed through a tunnel dug into the rock. Several museums: museum of nurseries and dolls' houses, museum of torture instruments, museum of miniatures, ethnological museum, etc. At the beginning of July, there are cultural days where tourists are welcome.

THE ALGAR FOUNTAINS
12 km from Benidorm and 3 km from the town of Callosa d'en Sarria, this is a heavenly place to spend a day, have a picnic and enjoy the natural beauty of the landscape. Magnificent waterfalls that stretch for 1.5 km along the Algar River, where you can bathe in its crystal clear waters, previously considered a beneficial source of health. Parking, shops, restaurants. Also worth seeing is the Dino Park, an attraction for children, an educational park located near the Cactus del Algar botanical garden.
